| Pair of chairs "à la montgolfière" (which means hot-air balloon due to its shape) by Jean-Baptiste Demay. Painted beech wood. This new design was introduced following the successful and striking take off of the hot air balloon driven by the Montgolfier brothers on September 19th 1783. The event influenced the design not only of chairs but also of clocks, jewels and all kinds of furniture decoration.
